The lustre or sheen can be returned with a polish, much like the polish you would receive as part of a scale and polish carried out by our hygienist. Before we carry out any tooth whitening procedure, we assess your teeth for any active decay or weakened enamel; these would make the whitening unsuitable, as the process can often exacerbate sensitive teeth and it is more important to treat any decay first.

Lightening solutions are less effective on white fillings, crowns and implants than on your natural enamel. This means that you can only lighten your teeth until they match the prosthetics, otherwise your prosthetics will be noticeably darker than the rest of your teeth. If you are planning to receive white fillings or crowns in the near future, it might be wise to have your teeth lightened first and your prosthetic made to match your lighter smile. If you already have prosthetics they will limit the shade we can whiten your teeth to.
