Options for cosmetic dentistry in Stockwell

Here at SW9 Dental, we offer lots of choice when it comes to getting a great smile. Some of these options include clear aligners, Six Month Smiles, lingual braces, veneers and teeth whitening. Cosmetic dentistry Stockwell can improve a person’s quality of life, helping them to feel more confident about their appearance, enjoy better oral health and better general health and longevity. Here, we explore what we can do to give our patients the smile they deserve.

Clear aligners

Clear aligners are a form of cosmetic dentistry Stockwell that is very popular due to the subtle nature of this treatment. This type of brace is completely different to the traditional braces that most people associate with getting their teeth straightened. Rather than wires and brackets, these braces take the form of trays of clear plastic that are fitted over the teeth.

Invisible braces are completely undetectable to others, which makes them ideal for those who feel a little self-conscious about the idea of having orthodontic treatment. They are also removable, which means that people who play contact sports or wind instruments do not have to neglect their favourite hobbies during treatment.

Six Month Smiles

Six Month Smiles is a cosmetic dentistry Stockwell that is quick and convenient. It is a type of brace that has tooth coloured instead of metal wires, and brackets that are clear. This means that though the braces are not invisible, they give a subtle look that can be helpful for people who are anxious about the idea of traditional braces.

The biggest advantage is of course that these braces have such a short treatment time. It is important to remember that the amount of time needed to get the desired smile is variable between patients due to differing individual needs. However, some patients find that their treatment is completed in as little as four months, while others are finished in six to nine months. This compares very favourably with other methods of teeth straightening.

Lingual braces

People still opt for traditional braces with metal wires and brackets because they continue to be a very efficient way to straighten the teeth, especially for more complex cases of misalignment. However, some people are unsure about this type of treatment because it is so conspicuous. The solution to this may be found in lingual or Incognito braces.

These braces are similar to the traditional ones in terms of construction, but differ in the sense that they are worn behind the teeth rather than over the front of them. Although they are not invisible, lingual braces are barely detectable to others due to their position in the mouth.

Veneers are a way of making the teeth look more uniform and giving a better smile that can be less invasive than other techniques such as braces. They are made from very thin layers of porcelain that fit over the teeth and can be a very successful way to correct issues such as crooked or chipped teeth and severe staining that may not be responsive to whitening.

Clear aligners as cosmetic dentistry in Stockwell

Here at SW9 Dental, we offer lots of choice when it comes to achieving that all important sparkling smile. Cosmetic dentistry Stockwell can transform a person’s life in terms of restoring their confidence. For patients with teeth that are crooked, protruding or overcrowded, clear aligners can be an excellent option that comes with a range of benefits.  Here, we explain what clear aligners are and how they work as a form of cosmetic dentistry Stockwell. We also explore why so many patients choose this treatment, explaining the advantages that are enjoyed by people who wear these braces.

What are clear aligners?

Clear aligners are a type of cosmetic dentistry Stockwell that is used to straighten patients’ teeth. Traditional braces utilise wires that are secured to the teeth using brackets, but clear aligners have no wires or brackets. They come in the form of trays of super soft plastic that fit over the teeth. They are worn much like a retainer or mouthguard, except that they are designed to be used for most of every day rather than shorter periods.

Aligners are swapped every couple of weeks and differ slightly in shape and fit each time. In this way, the teeth are gently encouraged to move into a more uniform position over time.

How long does the treatment take?

One of the benefits of having the teeth straightened using invisible or clear braces is that treatment times are typically short, especially in comparison with other methods such as traditional metal braces. Many patients find that they have the results they want after just a few months, rather than a year or two, as can be the case with other braces.

The amount of time that the patient needs to wear clear braces is very much dependent on their case as an individual. Therefore, it is worth making an appointment with us to find out how we can help and how long the process will take.

Do people know when someone is wearing clear aligners?

No! This is one of the biggest advantages of having the teeth straightened using clear braces. They are completely invisible. For the patient who is already self-conscious about having an imperfect smile, getting treatment that no one else needs to know about is often the ideal solution.

Invisible braces are also an attractive option for those who were unable to have their teeth corrected when they were young people or teenagers, as they eliminate the need to offer any explanation to others in social or work settings.

Does the patient have to change what they eat?

These braces are designed to be removed for eating, which means that there are no restrictions on the types of food that the patient can eat. They do require a little self-discipline, as the braces should be worn for around 22 out of every 24 hours.

This means that eating meals and snacks should be contained to around 2 hours each day, if the patient wants to get the best possible results. This can be advantageous, as it can help encourage the development of improved eating habits and help to minimise the amount of snacking that can be done.

What treatments are included in cosmetic dentistry?

If you’ve been to a dental practice before, you might believe that you know everything that happens there. Providing check-ups, tooth extractions and mouth screenings – you might even have experience with every service! We’ll raise you one more, however, with cosmetic dentistry Stockwell. There is an entire area of dentistry to be explored, with treatments that will fix any problem you’re currently facing with the aesthetics of your mouth.

Here at SW9 Dental, we want to put you back on the path to the smile of your dreams. We love to see you smile and would love even more to be a part of that journey. Whether it be fixing missing teeth or adding that bright, white shine to your already confident smile; we’re here to make your experience as relaxing, friendly and comfortable as possible!

In this short article, we’ll be introducing you to the world that is cosmetic dentistry Stockwell, by discussing just a few of our most popular treatments!

Clear aligners

One of the most common concerns that we see in our practice is that of misaligned teeth, or general unhappiness with the way that teeth sit. Unfortunately, not everyone is born with their teeth completely straight. Even if you follow a strict oral hygiene routine and attend regular check-ups, it’s unlikely that your teeth will straighten on their own!. That’s where clear aligners from cosmetic dentistry Stockwell come in. By wearing the clear aligners, you’re on a direct path to getting the straight, confident smile you’ve dreamed of. This teeth-straightening product is most favourable with adults due to the clear trays that work quickly and subtly while you go about your day-to-day tasks. They’re also completely removable, meaning you can be sure that you’re cleaning both your teeth and your aligners to the fullest extent.

Teeth whitening

If you suffer from staining on your teeth, you might be wondering why. Some of the causes include age, smoking, eating dark berries and curries and even enjoying your favourite morning coffee. When these lifestyle choices have been made for some time, it might be hard to remove the stain, even with vigorous cleaning. Never fear, though, for our teeth whitening service is right around the corner, ready to save the day! With options to whiten your teeth at home, or by minimal visits to the practice, getting the smile you desire has never been easier. When using our at home service, it is important that you follow our practice rules, including only using the made-to-fit trays and gel for the specified time. Following these guidelines will help to avoid potential discomfort like teeth sensitivity.

Inlays and onlays

Often when you’ve suffered from a cavity, you might be left with a hole in your teeth. Similarly, there might be some damage that causes you to feel self-conscious. With our inlays and onlays service, we’re able to apply the inlays and onlays directly onto the holes in order to fill and cover them. Once impressions are taken of your teeth, you’ll have a temporary filling placed until the inlay or onlay is finished. Once ready, they’ll be glued into place using an adhesive.

Let’s talk about cosmetic dentistry

If you’re completely confused about the term cosmetic dentistry Stockwell, then don’t worry, because so are plenty of people. For the general public, the dentist is the place to go to when experiencing pain in their mouth or from certain teeth. That isn’t all that dentists are able to do, though! We offer a variety of services and treatments that will help you feel more confident in your smile.

Here at SW9 Dental, we love to see you smile. We take pride in creating a friendly, relaxed atmosphere that you can feel at home in. Whether you’re suffering from discomfort with your teeth, have some general questions or want to fix your problem areas, we can do something to help. Come join our family and create a smile you can be confident in.

Below, we’ll talk you through some of the more popular components and services included in cosmetic dentistry Stockwell!

Clear aligners

Unfortunately, we’re not all born with perfectly straight teeth. Even if you stick to a strict oral hygiene routine and take care of your mouth and gums to the best of your ability, it is unlikely that you will get the straight smile that you’re aiming for. Once you look into cosmetic dentistry Stockwell, however, you’ll be introduced to clear aligners. You might already feel self-conscious regarding your teeth, so metal braces might only add to that, despite having benefits of their own. With clear aligners, you can wear them without the fear that everyone is looking at you when you smile, talk and eat. These aligners also come with the added benefit of being completely removable, meaning they exist to work around your lifestyle. If you want to take them out for certain occasions, you can! It is important to note that the longer they’re in, the better they’ll work.

You might have heard about veneers recently as they have started to climb in popularity. If your teeth are stained, chipped or even misaligned, this treatment might be the option for you. They work by adding a very thin, tooth-coloured piece of porcelain on top of your teeth, bonding to them immediately. You can have an entire smile makeover due to the ability to make the veneers exactly how you’d like them. They can be larger than your original teeth, or even made to cover gaps that you might be unhappy with. Your teeth, your choice!

Teeth whitening

When we go about our day-to-day lives, it is possible for our teeth to become stained. Causes for this include ageing, smoking, or particular dark foods and drinks that we incorporate into our diets. With a quick teeth whitening treatment, however, you can have your bright, white and confident smile back very quickly! We offer two forms of teeth whitening, including an at-home version as well as a service delivered within our dental practice.

Inlays and onlays

Inlays and onlays are often referred to as tooth restorations. This is because they can restore a fullness to your teeth, often filling in holes left by cavities. They are simply glued to your teeth with a simple adhesive and then you’re on your way back to confidence!

How we perform cosmetic dentistry and teeth whitening in Stockwell

We offer a wide range of cosmetic dentistry Stockwell, but how do we carry out tooth whitening and what should you expect when you come to our clinic?

Many types of cosmetic dentistry Stockwell are available at our surgery and we’ve done our best to provide our patients with the newest and most effective procedures (both clinical and cosmetic) carried out in a professional and welcoming environment. We’ve always found cosmetics to be an exciting part of dentistry, one that has the greatest effect on the everyday life of our patients. With its simplicity and low invasive nature teeth whitening, or dental bleaching, is one of our most popular procedures.

Teeth suffer a lot, particularly from everyday wear and tear. And many high tannin drinks like tea and coffee add to the complexity of enamel staining – not to mention smoking. This not only results in the darkening of the enamel, but also it becomes dull and loses its opalescence. In the clinic, we use tooth whitening gels containing peroxide agents to lighten dental staining. You may have come across home kits, but the percentage of peroxide in these gel kits is legally limited and will only contain 1% to 2% of the active ingredient compared to the 60% peroxide gel agents we would use in the clinic. This allows us to achieve much greater lightening in a shorter period of time than you ever could with a home kit. Not to mention the additional safety of having a procedure  carried out under the supervision of trained professionals.

The lustre or sheen can be returned with a polish, much like the polish you would receive as part of a scale and polish carried out by our hygienist. Before we carry out any tooth whitening procedure, we assess your teeth for any active decay or weakened enamel; these would make the whitening unsuitable, as the process can often exacerbate sensitive teeth and it is more important to treat any decay first.

Lightening solutions are less effective on white fillings, crowns and implants than on your natural enamel. This means that you can only lighten your teeth until they match the prosthetics, otherwise your prosthetics will be noticeably darker than the rest of your teeth. If you are planning to receive white fillings or crowns in the near future, it might be wise to have your teeth lightened first and your prosthetic made to match your lighter smile. If you already have prosthetics they will limit the shade we can whiten your teeth to.

A whitening session takes about an hour to complete in the clinic. It will not involve any drilling or invasive procedures and pain relief is not required during tooth whitening. You will be free to listen to music or use your phone during the procedure if you wish. But you will not be able to talk.

If you have any further questions about tooth whitening or any of the other cosmetic dentistry Stockwell feel free to get in contact with the clinic.

Invited online; made in-house while you wait!

Some of the most popular treatments in cosmetic dentistry Stockwell since the 1980s have been inlays and onlays. But they’ve changed quite a bit and we are one of the few clinics that can produce them in-house while you wait!

Inlays and onlays are similar to veneers, apart from being placed on the upper teeth, actively meshing the surfaces of the tooth. They have always had the advantage of being fast and effective and although they have been associated with an overly false Hollywood smile, they can be used far more subtly by matching your natural enamel and its realistic translucency. These devices can be used as part of a restorative treatment schedule returning your teeth to their healthy and natural looking appearance. We have often used them as part of a complete smile makeover for patients who require more extensive cosmetic dentistry Stockwell.

Historically, inlays were considered a more robust alternative to filling, when the top molars (which would be actively used during chewing) were suffering from a cavity. Gold was the most common material they were made from, and most people simply referred to them as gold fillings. Onlays are much larger, often covering the entire meshing surface of the molar. Also made of gold and nicknamed gold caps, they were seen as a lesser alternative to a gold crown.

We’ve largely moved away from the use of gold. Instead, we focus on far more natural-looking cosmetic dentistry Stockwell and the restorative qualities of  inlays and onlays. For any clinic, in order to prepare a ceramic porcelain composite inlay, they would have to take a mould or 3D scan of the affected tooth and then place an order with a dental laboratory for its construction.

We use an in-house milling system to produce inlays and onlays onsite as and when required for each patient, giving us greater flexibility in meeting any challenges or complicated prosthetics quickly, without the delay of having to use a dental laboratory for fabrication. This gives us the flexibility of working with malleable gold, and getting the aesthetic finish of porcelain composites.

It also allows us to perform restorations with less repeat visits to the surgery and also gives us the flexibility to produce very unique inlays on the fly, removing old amalgam fillings in order to replace them or even producing new crowns for teeth that require additional reconstruction.

The dramatic changes that inlays and onlays provide is immediate and has made them a highly popular option for those requiring reconstructive work if there is a deadline like a wedding or similar event. Minor orthodontic issues, decay and tooth shade can all be corrected for at the same time, providing a hard-wearing long-lasting solution, mixed with an aesthetic treatment with clinical significant advantages.

We are currently accepting new patients and if you are curious how in-house production of inlays and onlays could help you or a family member, please feel free to get in contact with the clinic. You can do this through our website or over the phone.

The impact of fixing dental flaws with cosmetic dentistry

Our obsession with our looks (thanks to an image-obsessed society) has propelled one’s dental appearance to the forefront of focus. How confidently one is able to smile an attractive smile will have an impact on a patient’s professional life and social circles. All is not lost for patients who find themselves embarrassed about their awkward smiles here at SW9 Dental, our extremely proficient dentists offer a range of procedures in cosmetic dentistry Stockwell. We can help patients address teeth yellowing issues, broken teeth, missing teeth and crooked teeth concerns. Here’s why we would like patients to consider opting for cosmetic dentistry Stockwell.

Must-have rewards of cosmetic dentistry Stockwell

The giddy wonderment of pleasing results

The incredible transformative effect of cosmetic dental procedures is too big an inducement not to consider an investment in a treatment plan. No longer is a patient consigned to living with unappealing cracked or fractured teeth or the resulting pain or discomfort or the risks posed to teeth health. Aesthetic dental treatments can effectively repair the damage to enamel and restore the patient’s dental appearance to full bloom.

Proactive approach to dental health

Once a patient has achieved the attractive smile they have always wanted and experienced the positive impact this has on their life, it is more likely that they will take a proactive approach to protect this investment. A proactive approach plays out in a patient not skipping out on in-clinic visits and a renewed commitment to maintaining a dentist-recommended at-home oral hygiene practice.

Restoring teeth has an age-defying effect

It is not at first appreciated how the look of teeth ties in with how old one looks. Consider how yellowing teeth promote an aged look. Aesthetic dental procedures can easily restore the youthful appearance of teeth but this is not the only way this works. It is said that the simple act of smiling has an age-defying effect, making us look younger and more attractive and since one is more willing to smile after correcting dental flaws, the effects of a youthful appearance are magnified.

Psychosocial benefits

The confidence we feel in our newly-acquired pleasing smiles seeps into many other areas of our lives. Patients will find they are more eager to grasp opportunities and take advantage of job advancements – by one smiling more and eschewing confidence, others are more ready to deem them more capable, more intelligent and with more leadership value. Attractive individuals are also less likely to be ridiculed or bullied

Protect against future damage

Unless teeth flaws such as cracked teeth are not taken care of by a professional dentist, these can develop into more serious dental issues down the line. Cosmetic dental procedures, therefore, not only restores the healthy appearance of teeth but can prevent the damage from escalating further – saving a patient from having to spend more money on dental work and the time in attending treatment sessions. From in-chair teeth whitening procedures to properly aligning crooked teeth with modern orthodontics to dental caps, veneers and dental implants, SW9 Dental has a diverse service menu of cosmetic dental treatments to help patients restore their confidence in their smiles.

What are the biggest advantages of cosmetic dentistry?

At SW9 Dental we take pride in being a reliable provider of high-quality cosmetic dentistry Stockwell, offering patients a wide range of treatments to address their dental appearance concerns. It is no longer possible to deny the demands of an image-obsessed society that places a high degree of focus on looks and where one’s visibility is considered currency.

Owing to these inescapable factors we have seen a consistent rise in the number of patients requesting cosmetic dentistry Stockwell at our clinic.

The chief objective of cosmetic dentistry Stockwell is to enhance the appearance of teeth by correcting a range of issues that undermine teeth aesthetics and thereby lessen the quality of a smile. Aesthetic-focused dental treatments can correct issues with stained (discoloured) teeth, irregular size, chips, cracks and fractures in enamel, broken teeth, crooked teeth and gaps between teeth. The investment in fixing an awkward unattractive smile has other advantages that go beyond cosmetic concerns. We delve deeper into some of these benefits.

Rewards of investing in aesthetic dental treatments

Patients will invariably find that addressing aesthetics will also improve overall dental health as well as making a positive impact on overall quality of life. Here is how this works:

Improve masticatory function

Missing teeth, broken, chipped or cracked teeth may affect a patient’s ability to bite and chew properly. These conditions may cause pain when a patient attempts to eat which can then affect the quality of the digestive process or prevent the patient from eating certain types of foods, which may have an adverse effect on the nourishment they receive.

Improve speech

It is not uncommon for patients with gaps in teeth to experience difficulty in pronouncing certain sounds with clarity and confidence. Aesthetic dental treatments such as tooth implants are an effective solution that covers many areas of concern for patients.

Promote teeth health

By taking suitable measures to resolve cosmetic issues like chipped or cracked teeth, patients are also protecting the mouth. These unwelcome tooth imperfections pose a greater danger to teeth health as any openings in the structure of the tooth’s outer surface leaves a way open for bad bacteria to reach the deeper, vulnerable layers of the tooth.

Promote mental health

Improved self-confidence is a by-product of cosmetic dentistry that transforms an awkward smile into an aesthetically-pleasing one. With the renewed ability to smile bright, wide winning smiles, a patient’s confidence levels are given a boost, allowing them to take advantage of professional opportunities and engage more with others socially to build personal relationships.

Advancements in dental technologies have made access to affordable treatment plans easier for patients. In many situations the timeframe of treatment plans are relatively quick to produce desired results which can last for a very long time provided patients follow closely the aftercare instructions from our dentists. Cosmetic dental treatments continue to enjoy a high success rate with very little risk and, depending on the procedure, minimal downtime for recovery.

Make SW9 Dental your preferred choice in dental clinics for all your aesthetic dental treatments. We have highly proficient and professionally-qualified dentists who offer a wide range of quality cosmetic dental procedures.

The first step in achieving your dream smile

Patients considering receiving cosmetic dentistry in Stockwell may be unsure of how to start their treatment process, this is where we can help. Located on our website, we offer our patients a new service commonly referred to as an ‘E-consultation’.

What is an ‘E-consultation?

An E-consultation is essentially a new service we offer our patients who are interested in receiving a dental treatment at our clinic. Patients can request a live digital call with our treatment coordinator, if they have any questions about their chosen treatment, and the treatment process they can expect at our clinic. If you are interested in receiving an E- consultation from Dr. Al Jumaily (our excellent treatment coordinator), then feel free to enter a few simple details via our website.

Send us a photo!

Patients who are pressed for time, may be less inclined to video chat with our treatment coordinator. If you are a patient who has a busy work or social schedule, we are always happy to receive any queries or concerns you may have, along with a photo of your pre-treatment smile! Patients have the option to tell our dentists the reasons they are unhappy with their smile, allowing us to work with them to find a solution to change this.

Come and pay us a visit

Some of our patients may prefer to pay us a visit directly, this is why we give our patients the opportunity to book an appointment online. Patients can select the reason for their dental appointment, and the exact time slot they desire. Aside from our E-consultations, and our online booking system, patients can email us or call us directly to ask us any questions they may have.

What is cosmetic dentistry?

Cosmetic dentistry in Stockwell is a form of dentistry we offer our patients who wish to improve the aesthetics of their dental appearance. Cosmetic dentistry covers a wide range of dental treatments which are all available under private dental care. In terms of specific dental treatments our clinic provides, we offer our patients teeth whitening, porcelain veneers, and forms of subtle orthodontics to realign the teeth within the mouth. All of our cosmetic dental treatments can be administered by all of our highly skilled dentists, however some treatments do overlap into other bands of dentistry such as orthodontics for example.

How does cosmetic dentistry in Stockwell differ from general dentistry?

General dental treatments cover a broad range of preventive dentistry, such as dental hygiene, healthy gum maintenance, and children’s dental care. However cosmetic dentistry could be argued as more complex. General dentistry strives to maintain patients’ oral health and function of the teeth, however cosmetic dental treatments focus more on the physical appearance, such as tooth bleaching.

Is cosmetic dentistry in Stockwell right for me?

If you are a patient who suffers from dental imperfections, which can make you feel insecure whether they be yellow teeth, or an overcrowded mouth, then our multiple forms of cosmetic dentistry could help improve your smile. Patients who are looking to receive cosmetic dentistry should always speak to our dental team prior to treatment, this ensures we find the best possible form of cosmetic dental treatment for you.

Orthodontic dentistry to suit you

Traditional metal braces may be considered unsightly for many individuals who are looking to receive more subtle and modern dental options, which is why we offer our patients several alternatives. Despite all forms of braces producing the same results, subtle forms can appear virtually invisible within the mouth, which may be considered a huge advantage for many of our patients. A few popular examples of the discreet braces we provide are both clear aligners, and lingual braces.

What are clear aligners?

Clear aligners are transparent plastic trays which are moulded individually to the patient’s mouth. Clear aligners are replaced every several weeks, in order to encourage the teeth to move into the ‘desired position’. One of the most popular brand providers of clear aligners is ‘Invisalign’ which could be argued as the largest provider within the United Kingdom. Our clinic uses Invisalign in order to achieve the best possible results for our patients.

Lingual braces

Lingual braces are another example of discreet orthodontic work we provide at our dental clinic within Stockwell.

How do lingual braces work?

Lingual braces use a metal wire which is placed behind the teeth, meaning they are invisible to onlookers. Lingual braces may be a perfect orthodontic fit for patients who wish for a rapid treatment time, as well as an inconspicuous dental appearance. Aside from their subtlety, patients may find lingual braces to be a more comfortable experience in comparison to traditional metal braces, which can unfortunately cause abrasion to the teeth and gums.
